For those arriving the weekend ahead of the conference and looking for spooky fun, consider checking out these Halloween events: – Canada's Wonderland Halloween Haunt (runs until November 1) – Casa Loma Legends of Horror (runs until November 1) – Nights of Lights (runs until November 1)

Cheer on the Toronto Raptors as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies (November 2) or the Milwaukee Bucks (November 4) at Scotiabank Arena, which is only a 10-minute walk from the Convention Centre. If hockey is more your style, the Toronto Maple Leafs will also be at home during the conference and will be facing off against the Pittsburgh Penguins (November 3), Utah Mammoths (November 5), Boston Bruins (November 8) and Carolina Hurricanes (November 9) at Scotiabank Arena.

The Royal Ontario Museum is home to 18 million artworks, artifacts and specimens from around the world and across the ages. Its exhibitions span ancient civilizations, natural history and contemporary art. Around the time of the IBA, you can see special exhibitions on Sharks, Picnics and Pastimes, the Chinese Zodiac and Flemish Masterworks. If you are here on October 31, check out ROM After Dark, a unique nighttime celebration with live music, pop-up performances, groundbreaking visual arts and distinctive food and drink. Each themed event offers an exciting way to explore the ROM, with experiences ranging from live DJ sets to interactive workshops. Another option is to head to the Art Gallery of Ontario , one of the largest art museums in North America, with more than 120,000 works ranging from cutting-edge contemporary pieces to significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists and European masterpieces. In addition to their permanent collection, during the conference you can see special exhibitions including: Joyce Wieland: Heart On, Moments in Modernism and Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room. Experience the legendary story of the Titanic at Titanic: The Official Exhibition – The Journey Continues, which is in Toronto for a limited time. This immersive exhibition features 200 authentic artifacts recovered from the wreck, reconstructions of the ship's rooms and a breathtaking VR experience. Tickets are available throughout September. Theatre and Performing Arts

On November 7 and 8 at Roy Thomson Hall (just a few minutes from the Convention Centre), you can experience the magic of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on the big screen with John Williams’s iconic score performed live by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour hits Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on November 9 and 10, while Sarah McLachlan will take the stage at Toronto’s famous Massey Hall on November 8. For other live music, comedy and special events, Live Nation’s local listings are the best one-stop-shop for whatever is taking place at Rogers Centre, Danforth Music Hall, Massey Hall and other classic Toronto venues. Similarly, see the Mirvish Calendar for listings and tickets to live theatre. Around the time of the conference, MJ: the Musical is playing at the Ed Mirvish Theatre while Tell Tale Harbour will be on at the Royal Alexandra and Ava: the Secret Conversations will be at the CAA Theatre.

Soulpepper will be showing The Comeuppence at their theatre (the Young Centre for the Performing Arts) in the Distillery District.
